Week 2 - Paper Craft - Origami

Paper Craft (Origami) Challenge

Time to practise your paper craft skills. Watch the video step by step guide to make something exciting with just 1 piece of paper! The Japanese call this skill Origami.

Origami is the art of paper folding, which is often associated with Japanese culture. In modern usage, the word "origami" is used as an inclusive term for all folding practices, regardless of their culture of origin. The goal is to transform a flat square sheet of paper into a finished sculpture through folding and sculpting techniques. Modern origami practitioners generally discourage the use of cuts, glue, or markings on the paper. Origami folders often use the Japanese word kirigami to refer to designs which use cuts.

To show off your growth mindset keep practising and persevering to perfect your origami sculpture. It might take a few attempts to get the folds correct and in the right place on the paper. If you want an extra challenge try a harder one!

Email them in to your year group email - Maybe email a picture of your first attempt and the last attempt when you feel like you have mastered it.

Enjoy the challenge and remember - don't give up.

If it gets hard just say to yourself - I can't do it... YET
