Funding for Primary School PE and Sports

The Government has allocated £150 million state funding to all  primary schools for the academic years of 2013 - 2016. It has now been confirmed that the funding will continue for the academic year 2024 - 2025

The  aim of this grant  is to further improve the provision and quality of Physical Education (PE) and Sport provided by all primary schools across the country.

The funding is provided jointly by the Departments of Education, Health; Culture Media & Sport and is to be ring fenced to make that schools spend their grant only upon PE and Sport as well as initiatives that address developing healthy lifestyles, either in lessons or beyond the school day.
