What Wonders Lurk Under the Deep, Blue Sea?
Our Amazing Trip to The Deep
The children had a fabulous time visiting the Deep in Hull. We started our day with an exciting ride in the scenic lift before enjoying a walk around the aquarium. We saw lots of impressive and unusual looking fish, sharks, penguins (a highlight for many of the children!) a very sleepy turtle and much more!
After our lunch, we spent time in one of the Learning Zones for a 'Caring for our Oceans' workshop. We listened carefully to a story about Cal the Whale, who swims the whole world in 365 days, looking for food...and friends! Whilst on his travels, Cal saves his ocean friends from sticky situations such as being wrapped in plastic, rope and more rubbish that is found in our seas and oceans. We loved all the hands-on activities, including looking through a microscope to see tiny shrimp! Then, we had more time to finish our walk around, and were amazed when stingrays and sharks swam above our heads as we walked through the glass tunnel.
Keep your eyes peeled for what we get up to next. We will be writing recounts of our trip next week and have a very special art project planned to help spread the very important message of keeping our oceans clean.
