Our first theme in Reception is 'all about me.' Here, we learn about ourselves and each other - all about us, our families and the things we like and dislike. It is also an important time to learn about our new environment. We learn the new routines, expectations and areas that we can explore. It is a busy half term, but such a fun one! The children have done so well settling into their new environment and we are all so proud of them and their amazing learning attitude!
Our first challenge in Reception is our 'chatterbox' challenge. Here children are encouraged to 'have a voice.' All children are asked over the summer to produce a chatterbox including things that are special to them. This might be pictures of their families, tokens from special days or trinkets that are special to them. They then share this with their new group of friends so that everyone can learn a little more about them and their family. For more pictures, see our challenge section, under challenge one.
As part of our theme 'all about me,' all the children draw a self portrait. They look carefully at themselves, considering their distinguishing features and talk about what makes them special. They then use their developing mark making skills to represent themselves! We have some budding artists in Willow class!
