Spelling and Grammar

Hello Year 5!

Well done to those of you who have been accessing Education City – if you are struggling remember you can always email us any questions J

This week in our SPaG learning, on education city we have added a spelling activity for you to practice spelling with suffixes. A suffix is a group of letters that goes onto the end of a word (called the root word) and alters the meaning, for example play becomes playing.

You also have an activity and an activity sheet challenging you to match the suffix to the root word and see if you can say what the meaning is.

You can also try this fun spelling game if you want to get your brain working!

Over the last few weeks, you have been practicing using possessive apostrophes on Education City. So, your writing challenge is focused on possessive apostrophes this week so you can practice what you have learnt. This week the animal we are focusing on is the Polar Bear!

On the website you will find, as usual, some challenges and a worksheet related to the video. There are also some different writing ideas to stretch your imagination if you would like to challenge yourself!

I would love to see what you come up with over the school email.

Have a good week everyone.
