Spelling and Grammar
Hello Year 5!
In grammar this week, we are going to be practicing our apostrophes again, if you go on Education City you will find an activity you can complete on your phone or tablet, and a worksheet you can look at on the screen and write your answers on paper. This week’s activity looks at apostrophes in different contexts.
You will also find a spelling activity on there for you – not everyone has the same one, but again you will find an activity and a worksheet. Good luck!
For our writing activity, you have a few options – if you didn’t get chance to look at the video from last week have a check back and see if you would like to do some story writing – I would love to see some stories!
We also have a new activity that gives us a chance to be creative – writing similes! Remember, a simile is a way to describe something by comparing it to something else. It’s important to think about the atmosphere you want to create, for example if I wanted to add something to a scary story I might say “Fear ran down my spine like ice”.
This is another animal themed activity – follow the link at: https://www.naturalcurriculum.co.uk/year5/similes/blacktip-shark/screen-1/
You will find a video about sharks and some activities to go with it. If the video doesn’t play in the website, try this direct link to see the video: https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p02qrzq4/player
Have a good week everyone and remember to email us so we can see what you have been up to!
