Speaking and Listening
Monday 8th June
Play a guessing game. You'll hear a sound and have four pictures to choose from. Which is the right picture? Listen really carefully.
Alphablocks is really useful for helping children to develop their phonics skills at home. Practise these different sounds modelled: s, a, t, p and watch how they form words together. This is not a reading task but a way of children hearing how the sounds are segmented and if they can start to figure out the word from hearing the sounds blended.

Wednesday 10th June
Listen to the story of The Very Hungry Caterpillar and add sound effects to the story. Maybe you might try a munching sound or make a happy noise to show you've enjoyed delicious food. Think about what noise you might make if you were feeling poorly like the hungry caterpillar does.
Another video to help your children hear modelled segmented sounds. Listen to the sounds, practise saying them yourself and see if you can start to hear what word is being segmented! Do you know what these words mean?
