Reading activity for ear
Firstly, have a go at reading these or words. Remember, you might need a sound line and buttons under the sounds to support.
Refer children back to when we learnt 'igh' - remember, this was a trigraph, 3 letters that make one sound. Ear is just the same. When we see e-a-r together it makes the ear sound. Try blending the sound in these words .

Reading practice for 'ear'
Let's have a look at reading some sentences containing a mixture of digraphs and trigraphs from our work in phonics over the last few weeks. Have a go - spot the digraphs first, this will help you to blend!
These are all sentences about being ' in the woods'.
Chip the dog runs to the woods.
He is looking for rabbits but sees a fox.
The fox sees him and rushes off to its den.
Chip dashes after it but cannot see it.
He feels sad and runs back to his kennel.
Writing practice for 'ear'
Can your child write ear words to match the picture. Remember - if you choose to use a phoneme frame, ear will go in one box - as it is one sound!
Ask your child to write a letter to their teacher - what would it start with? Dear Miss Miles. Can they write an independent sentence, then love from and their name. Dont forget finger spaces, full stops and capital letters. Encourage your child to be as independent as they can be.
Tricky word practice
Can you practice our tricky words with a look, cover write check practice? Look and say the word. Cover and write the word. Check the spelling of the word. Use the words that we have learnt previously.

This week we are going to look at a new tricky word : come
Can you say the word in a sentence ? My sentence is " Come and sit over here"
Can you take a picture of the word with your magic camera? Then can you write it?
Look at the word - it has 4 letters, 4 short. Say the letters that you need for the word.
Can you sort the words for the sentence?
