This week we are learning about the ‘z’ and ‘zz’ sound. Watch the alphablocks video below, it will help you practice reading lots of ‘z’ and ‘zz’ words, can you write down all the ones you see?
A ‘z’ on its own is normally found that start of a word such as ‘zip’ but if the sound is at the end or in the middle of the word we normally use ‘zz’ instead such as ‘fizz’ or ‘fuzzy’. Can you spot all the tiny ‘zz’ words in the picture? Have a go at writing a sentence with some of them in.

This week your new sound is /oy/. This grapheme looks different, but it sounds just like the /oi/ sound you learnt earlier in the year. Watch the video below to practise using the /oy/ sound in words.
