Each week we will upload 3 'Chilli Challenges' for you to have a go at as well as your 'Key Instant Recall Facts' to keep practicing. Please feel free to send us pictures of any work you complete - we always love to see all your hard work! You will see at the bottom of the page some guidance to help with calculations that fits with what we do in school. Any questions - please get in touch through parent email.

We have also set you some activities to have a go at on Education City and Mathletics, use your log in details to access it and give it a go!

Using a place value chart and counters to work out addition and subtraction calculations

Remember - draw yourself a big place value chart to help you. If you don't have any counters, you can use any objects you can find at home!

Remember - you can use inverse to check your calculations!

In Maths, the inverse means the opposite function. For example, addition is the inverse of subtraction and multiplication is the inverse of division. For example:

3 + 7 = 10        10 - 7 = 3

2 x 6 = 12        12 ÷ 6 = 2

So for this week where we are focusing on adding and subtracting multiples of 100, you can use your inverse skills to check back on your answers and make sure they are correct! For example:

200 + 300 = 500

I can use the inverse:

500 - 300 = 200

Have a go!
