Meet the Maple squad!

Lane End Challenges

Here at Lane End, as we ‘learn and believe, aspire and achieve’, we are faced with many new experiences and challenges.

Some of these arrive as special ‘Lane End Challenges’!

Some challenges will help us to be important parts of wider teams and communities.

Some challenges will let us learn about and try new things we might never have done before – and sometimes we will have to be brave to try!

Some challenges will help us to develop new skills that we will need in everyday life.

Some challenges will make us think about our futures, and help us to develop our own hopes, goals and aspirations.

Many challenges will make us use our voices – so that we can share our ideas, and communicate what we know and think.

Look at the links below to find out what we have been up to and what we have successfully completed so far this year.

Well sadly school has had to close but know that this is to keep each other safe and before you know it we will all be back in the classroom together again! laugh

In the meantime Maples, keep up the learning that we give you and make sure you give yourself some time to do some reading. Mr Black and Miss Earnshaw are thrilled to see all the fantastic work that you're sending in so please keep sending them through - it makes our day!

Take care,

Mathletics Mathematician Certificates! Well done Maples!

Maple Fun Fridays!

Class Gallery

Here are a selection of photographs showing you what we have been learning this term. Have a look at the other parts of our page too, especially our recent topic page to see what we have been up to.

The Maples have been working so well in their maths! Here you can see they are practicing using their dienes to show how we add or subtract big 3-digit numbers. The windows already need to be opened by the energy that comes out of these mathematicians!

We are Artists!

We have been learning about Joan Miro this half term and exploring the different shapes, colours and textures he used in his paintings and sculptures. We have made our own sculptures inspired by his work.

At the start of this half term we learned about Vincent Van Gogh and the Starry Night. We used his techniques to create our own landscape picture.
In Science we have been learning lots about rocks and fossils. We carried out some investigations to see if rocks were porous, dense and durable. We collected some soil from the school grounds to see what we could find in it and also created our own fossilisation process using dog biscuits.
We worked together to create posters about the Mount St Helen's volcano disaster.
For Remembrance Day we learned about why we celebrate it, carried out a two minute silence and made our own 3D poppies and some of us even wrote some poems.
