Ideas for activities at home

Phonics ideas at home

Can you go on a sound hunt? What can you hear? Can you hear a loud noise? A quiet noise?

These games will help to develop our listening skills which support us with phonics!

Listen to some nursery rhymes - can you join in? Can you hear the rhyming word? This site is fantastic for some nursery rhyme ideas.

Use your listening skills to play the who's behind the door game here.

Split up words for your child while you are talking - this is called oral segmenting and blending and will help your child to break a word up into its sounds. For example - lets go in the b-a-th ( bath).

Maths ideas at home

We introduce a new number every two weeks as part of our maths learning. To help us we look at the numberblocks! Watch an episode of numberblocks ( only up to 20 please) and talk about what your child has noticed during the episode. Here is a guide to help you with what to do after watching each episode.

Sing some of these counting nursery rhymes - we love to count

Activities for learning ideas have been sent home, but also can downloaded below.

We will also be adding to Nursery news with other learning activities.
