At Lane End Reading will be the main expectation of work to be completed at home. Being a good reader is the key to making great progress in all areas of the learning.
10 Benefits of Reading
Reading at home
We love to read in Silver Birch class. Please ask us about our reading books and help us to read them at home. We would love it if we could have 3 reads at home per week. We have a special reading challenge and everytime the children read 3 times they will move up the chart. If most of us get to the top we can have a class party!
Learning Opportunities at Home
We also have a number of online learning opportunities that your child can enjoy at home - to continue building and apply their skills and understanding. These include Mathletics and Education City. Links to these can be found in the 'Kids Zone' and your child's class teacher have given them log in details for both. The children will know which challenges they need to complete as well as being able to explore these platforms for other learning activities.
If you wish to support your child's learning in other ways too, you will have information about the areas of learning your child will be focusing on in class, explained in the curriculum newsletters that come home every half term. These can also be found on this website, under each topic heading icon. For example, you could work with your child to find out more about the history, geography or science topics that they are learning about.
Also your child’s teacher will on occasion set extra challenges, for you to try at home and they might ask you and your children to send pictures to the parents email - to share your experiences.
