Beech Class - Reception B

Beech Class had a fantasic trip to Lotherton Hall... what a great day!

This term our focus story has been Jack and the Beanstalk. This week the children have started to make a giant beanstalk outside!

The children have developed a thirst for writing and with the arrival of our Superhero writing area they are as busy as ever!

The children have been enjoying the fair weather and have been super active in their learning!

The children in Beech Class are receiving their own busy books this term and are loving decorating them and beginning to produce some lovely independent writing.

During the first week back to school the children have been visiting the Wildlife Garden!

Beech Class have enjoyed maths this week especially when chocolate was involved!

Lets Celebrate!

In Beech Class we always enjoy celebrating our children's birthdays and the children love to share their birthday stories....and cake!

We would love to hear about all of your other celebrations, this may be a family celebration, a religious celebration or an achievement that your child has celebrated.

Please send your celebration stories and photos to our parent email and we can share the good news together!

In Beech class we are so interested and excited by the strong wind... Storm Doris!
We learnt a song about called A Windy Day (click here to see the video) and because it was such a short song we decided to add more verses! We looked outside and talked about what we could see...the trees wobbling like jelly, clouds moving in the sky, birds flying away...all these ideas helped us make our song much more interesting.
We created a quick story map together to help us remember the words and actions. Well done Beech class! Have a go at singing the song at home!

Practise singing the song and learn and dance moves for our 'Easter Bonnet' parade on Thursday.

Today we have been baking in the teaching kitchen! The children have been measuring and weighing the ingredients, rolling out and cutting to produce a delicious selection of biscuits.

This term we have introduced our Deconstructed Role Play area! The children have been exploring and experimenting in this area and using their skills to build and pretend!

This term our theme is Winter and this week we had a surprise visit from a mysterious 'Ice Queen', she had frozen some of the children's toys in blocks of ice during the night!

Last week we had an important visitor in reception, her name was Sgt Walker and she was a police officer! The children enjoyed dressing up in her uniform, using her handcuffs and her walkie talkie!
