Summer 2- Minibeasts

Snail week

This week we are learning all about snails. Luckily Miss Thomas found some snails whilst she was doing her gardening, we are trying very hard to keep them cool and wet in this hot weather.

Our cateprillars have arrived, Willow class are now the proud owners of 5 tiny caterpillars. We are going to watch them grow and are very excited to see what happens! We have decided so far to call them: Harry, Lucy, Casey, Neighbour and Flying Tiger and we have lots of questions to find out the answers to like: Why is there a web in the pot? What is the sand thing that they're eating? How big will they grow?

Day 4

Over the weekend the caterpillars have been veryyyyyy busy! When we came back to school this morning nearly all of them had turned into chrysalis'. We looked at how their bodies still looked spikey and how they wiggled upside a lot!

Freedom!

Our butterflies finally appeared. We were super Responsible Reggies making sure we looked after them. The children decided the Wildlife garden would be the best place to let them go to make sure they could find their Mummy and Daddy's!

This half term we are beginning to investigate mini-beasts. On Friday w ewent on a mini-beast hunt in the Wildlife garden. The children found all the best spots that the insects were hiding in, they particularly loving hiding under all the rocks and logs!
