Silver Birch Class - Year 1A

Dear Parents and Carers,

Hopefully you are liking the new style layout of our class page.

We will be uploading new content to the different areas - please be patient, and as always we welcome any feedback you may have that can help us make the pages the best they can be!

Thank you for your on-going support!

Miss Nelson

We had a fantastic trip to Slung Low Hub to watch The Emergency Story Penguin. The children had a fabulous adventure. They met Druella the parrot and rescued a penguin who was stranded in the Antarctic. The children were amazing and so well behaved they were a credit to Lane End. Well done Year 1!!

04.03.2016 - HOMEWORK

Next week in English we will be continuing to learn the story of ‘ Jack and the Beanstalk.’ The children are now super confident retelling the story using talk4writing actions. Can you ask your child to retell the story? Can you draw a story map of the story? Can you draw the characters of the story?

If your child tells you the story, it would be lovely if you could film it and send it to our school email for us to watch in snack and chat!

Challenge!

Mrs Britton set the children a challenge today to complete at home

With World Book Day just around the corner, we would love to see how much you enjoy reading at home!

Can you take a picture of you reading and send it into the school's e-mail address at laneendparents@gmail.com

You might take a picture of you sharing a bed time story, reading to a little brother or sister, reading a sign or label at the supermarket. Reading is everywhere so get creative! We can't wait to share your reading pictures.

We had an amazing day out at Tropical World. The children had so much fun exploring the different habitats and looking out for all the creatures. We saw a variety of animals including monkeys, crocodiles, birds, fish, meerkats and butterflies. The children were a credit to the school and showed how they can all be Responsible Reggie's and Collaborative Cara's. Check out how much fun we had in our pictures below.
Year 1 are part of a project called Maths 4 All and they have been doing some fabulous maths works including 3d shape and place value. In the coming weeks they will be looking at fractions, time and money. Look at the pictures of the fabulous work we have being doing.
